I feel Veganism makes people passive particularly if they are not very well informed re their nutritional needs and most peoples knowledge falls short.(which is why I presume veganism it so heavily promoted) ... The lack of B vitamins can have a profound effect on the brain and nervous system. It will often mean that people are eating a much more processed diet, they find they can't bear life without cheese for instance so will buy highly processed faux cheese or even meat. I say this as a life long vegetarian who knows I could not sustain health without the saturated fat of cheese and butter.
Unfortunately the tragedy is that Gareth doesn't realise he's in an abusive relationship with the government. He cannot conceive that the state is acting against his interests and think it can be fixed by getting better people in power. I'm not sure how we fix this.
Not everyone is quite on the same page yet. Over time this will change. Recent events are helping, just need to make sure the genuine grass roots farmer's movement doesn't get completely co-opted by the establishment.
Well having been a vegetarian for about 40 years I feel as though I have been brushed aside in favour of extremists. I don't eat meat but I do eat animal produce. So I don't want to be put in the Vegan category. But all the new veggie burgers are 100% vegan and I am not at all sure about the contents. It is almost as though vegetarians don't exist any more .. you either eat meat or your vegan. I also keep chickens and eat their eggs .. and don't tell other people what they should eat.
I do agree with you Veggie meals in restaurants in particular are becoming fewer and vegan are taking over. I'm astonished at the crap that many vegans eat too, very much like people who say they are Gluten free but MUST have a gluten free alternative to whatever they're not eating. Perhaps they've been brought up eating just processed food so know no other way. There are now whole isles in the supermarkets with gluten free products and if you read the labels there are endless ingredients that all supply virtually no nutrition at very inflated prices. I often wonder when people say how much better they felt when they stoped eating gluten could it because they not ingesting the glyphosate and such once the stop eating wheat products? .... Most Vegans are vegans not because they are unhappy with animals being killed for meat so do not have a problem with food that looks like meat which I certainly would, so I think they will happily take on board the new (insect) protein foods that are now being developed ..They've almost developed a market before the product. By the way the Vegetarian society was founded in the early 1900's
I have lived in Italy for forty years ... in the early days people were astounded that I didn't eat meat, they often asked if I ate chicken evidently they don't include that as meat. Then about 15 years ago it became trendy to be Vegan and a whole range of basically processed food emerged and new sectors appeared in the Supermarkets with all the Bio Labelling. Basically Italians don't understand what a vegetarian is and what they eat. The majority of dishes in Italian restaurants are suitable for vegetarian but they are completely oblivious to it .. I think it fits in with the globalists plans to grow synthetic food indoors under lights and do away with traditional farming ..
I find myself in a bit of a spot because I while am not in favour of Industrial farming the proposed alternatives are considerably worse and totally idiotic ..
You touched on French farmers. Another area in France that works very well in a decentralised way is their health service.
One example. My uncle lives in rural France. If he needs a blood test the district nurse - remember those - comes to the house to take the blood. She then drops that off at the village chemist who in turn takes it to the blood lab about 15 miles away. The next morning my uncle receives the results through the post.
So that's 24hrs from blood taken to results received.
All because the system is well integrated and because each element is kept local.
Farming can easily work in a similar way with similarly beneficial results.
We face a systemic crisis - how to change a top down to a bottom up society. GWJ has all the right ideas, but farming and food production, fundamental as they are, are (an economically insignificant) part of a global money based system

24:39 "and that's the way you'll bring down that carbon footprint."
I nearly cried.
I first came across Gareth when he was one of the panelists at the Battle of Ideas 2022 and I found what he said very moving: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYxxKvTedFU

Very inspiring and emotive conversation.
Thank you very much to both of you

At 25 years a generation, I make that 375 years of farming by Gareth's family at 15 generations.
